In teaching "students who learn differently", the use of hands-on models and manipulatives help them connect ideas and integrate their knowledge so that they gain a deep understanding of abstract concepts”. Grade 5 Science Standards require students to compare and contrast the plant and animal cell as well as develop a model. Having 3-dimensional models will help students to not only see the inside of a replica cell, but give them a multi-sensory experience to stimulate learning. My students learn best from hands-on experiences and visual aids. Models and colors enhance their learning experience. The color printer will provide vibrant 2-dimensional educational materials for my student to manipulate. Assessment devices to increase focusing should improve student outcome. The privacy shields and ear devices will be used to block out any visual distractions or sounds and keep students on track for success.
