My students spend the majority of their learning time at tables where they actively engage in learning centers. A teacher-led center is always included in the rotations. This is when an explicit skill is practiced, such as phonemic awareness, word work, guided reading and guided math. A teacher-led center is one of the most important centers where I get to spend time with my students in small groups and differentiate instruction to foster learning. A horseshoe activity table will not only fit perfectly in my classroom but it will allow me to work with my small groups in a comfortable learning environment.
