These materials will help my students better develop their reading fluency and comprehension skills. I have chosen four diverse novels to help engage them in reading, where we can work as a class to discover the important literacy elements in each of the novels. Each of these novels was chosen because of the literacy elements that they will expose students to, as well as the diversity of events the characters' stories depict. Along side reading these novels, students will engage in discussions in order to explore the nuances of each of the novels and to help develop a better understanding of a variety of literary elements.
