This project will provide our students with the opportunity to develop and practice cooking skills and nutritional knowledge needed to sustain a healthy lifestyle. The lessons include food preparation, communication and dining etiquette. Students will research recipes for specific health topics such as: sugar free cooking for diabetics, baked vs fried foods, diet specific meal prep etc. Cross curricular connections are made with: Math- measuring, recording cook time, adjusting ingredients to accommodate serving needed; ELA- journal writing about their experience, research, group discussions, cultural foods and reading recipes; Science- temperature, measuring, nutritional health; Social Studies- historical research of culinary arts.
