This funding will allow me to maintain the highest level of professional development as a teacher: National Board Certification. Funding of this project will allow me to enhance my teaching in the area of Spanish, improve my students learning; and provide additional professional opportunities by sharing my knowledge with colleagues in the world language field! I am requesting funding for the registration and the Maintenance of Certification. The NBCT process itself is the best professional development any educator can undertake due to the rigor, dedication, and perseverance. The Certification process will allow me to demonstrate my knowledge of students, collaborate with colleagues, families and improve the learning environments for all students by reflecting and analyzing my current methods of teaching. As part of the maintenance process, teachers are required to complete two components each measuring an area of professional growth in their field of teaching, and also include a video of their teaching as supporting evidence. This process will enable me to become a better Spanish teacher for myself as well as for my students. The process is rigorous and transformative. I believe that through the process, I will become more aware of my own practice and the best way to help students be successful, enabling me to have a greater impact on my students' academics and futures.
