As Walt Disney once said, "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." As educators, we not only aim to teach our students all that they need to know but also try to instill a love of learning in them. I myself am a life-long learner. Education practices are continually evolving and that means, so too must our Mary Poppins-like bag of tricks! Attending the Get Your Teach On National Conference in the happiest place on earth would enable me to fill that bag with multiple strategies for amping up teaching and learning in our Disney-themed classroom. The educators of the Get Your Teach On conference are known for their creative instructional strategies and high-energy delivery. In a way, they have their own magic spells they cast upon student engagement and learning. I hope to walk away from this conference with strategies that will engage my Kindergarten students in learning, setting the stage to engage them in learning daily and for the rest of their years! Socialization is a key component of Kindergarten and many of the Get Your Teach On strategies are rooted in student collaboration and team-building. This would ensure that my students not only have the academic skills they need in life but also the social skills as well. I am also looking forward to learning how to enliven the mornings of our school day, a vital part of getting students focused and ready to learn. Attending the Morning Makeover session would help students put their best foot forward, as they step into adventure! As Alice in Wonderland once said, "Every adventure requires a first step." I look forward to setting off on this magical adventure to create that first step for my students!
