These materials will make a difference in my class because sensory play is engaging and fun for children that have autism. With the sand and the light tables, I can teach colors, shapes, numbers, animals, and themes, all while they think they are playing. This is so important because children with autism have to be motivated to want to work and learn, so as a teacher I have to be creative. Also, I have been trying to improvise for sensory and the students pick up the buckets and dump all the sand on the floor. When I brought them to another class that had two big sand tables, they actually appropriately played with it and were able to label the items in the sand. Right now we have to walk to another classroom for touch and feel center; it would make teaching so much easier if I had these items available in the classroom. Anything would help the education for my students. Please help out a 1st year teacher who really just wants the best for her students! Thank you.
