These books will provide our classroom with the 2019 and 2020 Illinois Reads books. The purpose of the IL Reads project is to encourage lifelong readers in Illinois. Embedded in the project is great literature produced by Illinois authors. As a class, we are asking for two classroom sets of six books from the 2019 and 2020 IL Reads book lists (grades 3-5). During the IL Reads unit project, we will study IL authors and their books. Students will have the opportunity to pick a book for a book talk or book activity. We will be skyping with an IL author and writing letters to authors. The students will have the opportunity to speak and ask authors questions about the books they have read and have done book talks on in class.
