I've spent a decade in the classroom, and every 4-5 years, I enjoy beginning a new challenge as a teacher. For my upcoming 11th year in education, I am requesting for donations to purchase resources as I transition to teach a new subject (AP US History) next school year. I want to use my summer to figure out the best way to structure my class and prepare for this new content so that my students learn how to stretch their thinking and improve their critical analysis skills. Just as we expect our students to be active life long learners, teachers must also be open to learn new concepts and new ways to sharpen their teaching skills. I'm requesting for 2 Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards that will pay for a curriculum guide and lessons for APUSH to help me better understand how to teach the course. The test prep books, such as AP U.S. History Exam Prep Guide and Course Reader and test prep flashcards will be used to help me develop in depth review sessions. Other resources that I requested, such as 5-Minute Drill: A Simple Prewriting Process for Creating College-Level Essays and U.S. History Skillbook: Practice and Application of Historical Thinking Skills for AP* U. S. History, are to help me understand how to teach those skills to improve my students document analysis, historical thinking, and critical thinking skills. The other books that I requested are going to help me learn how to create and grade document based questions and historical thinking activities.
