With a large classroom rug, my students can sit comfortably and focus on the lesson of the day as well as have a cozy spot to read. We encourage the kids to get comfortable but that can be difficult on a tile floor. We not only gather on the floor for Reading, but also Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies! This donation will be used time and time again to create a warm and inviting climate for my students to thrive. They will be able to sustain a seat on the floor in a comfortable manner which will in turn help them be more of an active listener and participant. It will also be a place for us to gather every Monday morning to have our weekly meeting. This is important for building a classroom community that is trusting and safe. With appropriately sized stools, my students can have more space at our table! We do not have to drag chairs over in order to have small group meetings. This will also give another seating change to help those students who struggle to sit for long periods of time. I will be able to use our time more efficiently and effectively!
