The books that you will be providing for my students will develop their early reading skills, as well as promote engagement and motivation through their interests. At the kindergarten level, students come in with a range of reading abilities and exposure. These books are going to be beneficial by developing student's phonics, decoding skills, sight word recognition, and overall love of reading. It is crucial at the kindergarten level to build student's reading foundational skills through interest based text and these books will help me to do that. Research tells us that early literacy development will affect their success in all content areas throughout their education. These books will give my students both non-fiction and fiction texts to choose from based on their own personal interests, which will also build their vocabulary. By donating to my project, you will be giving my students the resources to be successful, motivated, and engaged readers. This will allow them to build a strong foundation that will inspire them to be lifelong learners and readers.
