The books I have chosen will be used to enhance student critical thinking and analysis skills as they compare fictional and nonfictional accounts of events and ideas within a project based learning environment. These are skills that are going to be paramount to their success as my students continue their journey in academics. Providing fictional novels that reinforce the topics the projects emphasize will motivate my students who prefer fiction over nonfiction to read and learn more about the concept or idea that forms the basis of the projects. Project based learning encourages responsibility, independence, and critical thinking, and will support student learning experiences to ensure they become strong and successful adults. In addition, students will gain valuable experience in working with others, acquiring skills in teamwork, cooperation, and compromise. These are skills that are highly sought after with employers today.
