First grade is a vital year in learning how to read. One of our favorite times of the day is Guided Reading. This is when I meet with all students in small groups and work on phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary and reading comprehension. There is nothing that makes teaching reading easier than having the materials needed in order to learn and practice. The products I have selected will help me stay organized while meeting with small groups and will help my students by providing hands on opportunities to practice reading skills. I will use these resources to help develop the essential literacy skills/strategies needed for my students to all become proficient readers.
