When I shared these possibilities with my students I was so tickled to see and feel their excitement. I told them that everyone was going to help them learn to cook for themselves and learn how to do a real life job where they get a paycheck! They have a long list of things that they want to learn. My greatest desire is to empower my students to take charge of their lives, become advocates for their special abilities and live a full and happy life. The vocational kits will enable them to further develop a strong work ethic. These kits are tiered so that they are progressive in that one skill builds upon another and they create a finished product individually or as one member of a group; as in being on an assembly line. In this scenario, they also have the opportunity to practice their social skills and develop a keener sense of cooperation, accountability, and self-esteem. The wonderful cookbooks will be used to help the students become more independent and self-sufficient. We can't wait to begin our adventure!
