AP English Language and Composition is a non-fiction course. As such, sometimes it is difficult to find high-engagement full-length texts that students are excited to read. Memoirs make a perfect bridge between fiction and non-fiction. They are non-fiction texts told in story form. Students have read these titles and have demonstrated their excitement over these specific texts. I'd love to be able to have copies of these books on hand when students have difficulty buying or accessing these books. Furthermore, memoirs remind students of the importance of personal stories. Ideally, these books will inspire students to share their own experiences with one another.
