The classroom lending library is a great literacy project. I am a Special Education teacher at Bunche Park Elementary School which is located in Opa Locka, FL. I teach in a K through 5 self-contained classrooms for students with intellectual disabilities (IND). Placing books in the hands of children fundamentally influences their chances for both personal and academic success. The project will help to improve the reading achievement of my students and increase their access to print. In addition, the project will require the parents' involvement. They will be responsible to read to their children and complete a reading report for each book.
