I want my students to discover that reading can be enjoyable and that continuing to read can help them in many aspects of learning as well as gaining an understanding of our world. We will work on reading comprehension and connections students can make between texts. I need to build a class library to engage my students in exploration of genres. I want them to partner a classic selection: The Odyssey, the ultimate hero's journey with these books. With stories that are user friendly and high interest, I hope to show my students how the hero's journey is part of nearly all stories, even our own ones.
