With these diversity materials, students will learn about people all around the world. These materials will aid in discussions about people with different abilities. We will celebrate our differences and the difference of others. Students will make crafts representing people of all kinds, read stories about different cultures and do research projects, and engage in acting out different diversity scenarios! We will also use these materials to focus on character traits such as empathy, compassion, friendship, and fairness. Students will know after these lessons that all human beings matter. These materials will aid in making our learning environment an accepting environment for all who enter it. Having crayons that match your skin color, or having books with children in them that look like you might not seem like a huge deal but to children it is everything. All children deserve to be in a learning environment where they are represented.
