Students in the 21st century must be prepared with tech literacy. In order to support this, my students need working headphones to listen to books, record responses, complete math curriculum, access many more resources, and of course, access state and district tests. Headphones are a must! My students deserve to have their own working and comfortable pair of headphones. Our class set is incomplete and many headphones are on their last legs. A complete set will teach my students to take care of their own materials, much like they practice taking care of their class Chromebook. Sharing the few headphones we have is a struggle for many reasons. With a class of 21 students, having each Chromebook on audio is very disruptive to learning and instruction. Logistically only about half the class can use them at a time. Since our physical classroom library is limited, we use online books during our reading workshop. We also use an online platform as a daily portfolio, for things such as a reading log during reading workshop and practice math computation in fun way. This would all be more efficient if everyone had their own set of headphones. Another reason students should not be sharing items that go on their heads is they risk spreading infestations or diseases from head to head contact. Please help our class now! Thank you.
