This all day living museum presentation brings the field trip to the school and allows them the hands-on opportunity to experience pioneer life during the Westward Expansion, about 1840-1890. The students will cover topics ranging from Native Americans of Idaho, Lewis & Clark, the Oregon Trail, and general pioneer living. This program will leave a lasting impression and give students a greater understanding and appreciation for pioneers during the Westward Expansion. Activities include setting up camp with a fully restored and equipped chuck wagon, fetching water and using a hand pump to get it, washing clothes and dishes, sawing wood with both a crosscut and bow saw, making shingles, learning to make a campfire, roping, and branding, making butter, preparing a meal and cooking it over an open fire, making a wooden button, creating toys, and playing pioneer games.
