At my school, we are working on being kind and celebrating differences. Last summer, our students read Wonder as a summer reading project. Both of these titles would allow us to continue with this lesson theme, as well as expanding it to encompass more cultures and ideas. Our students and staff would love to learn more about Malala and how her voice has shaped education around the world. Likewise, our students would be exposed to different cultures and ways of life in places unlike our neighborhood. This is important in a small school like ours. I look forward to reading and discussing these titles with my students.
