My students start each morning together on the rug. We have a time of greeting, and discussing the day's activities. Students also use the rug during whole group instruction time, small group center work, and individual reading time. Having a warm, cozy spot to sit while they read, helps them to relax and focus. A new rug would give my students a chance to sit somewhere other than their classwork chairs throughout the day. We also use the rug to come together for classroom discussions. This new rug would allow all 25 of my students to be able to sit together, and have room to be comfortable.
