By giving my students flexible seating options, it will allow them to control their learning. Many of my students require breaks throughout the day because they are stuck behind their desks all day. While I try to get them up and active during lessons, many lessons require them to be seated. My students are currently utilizing different areas in the classroom in order to work. They are give permission to lay on a pillow on the carpet, sit on stools but the window. My students work more effectively when given a choice on where they can complete their work. However, I would like to give them more options in order enhance their focus. By providing wiggle cushions, wobble stools, and exercise balls, my students are given a variety of options during independent work time. This will also allow my more active bodied friends to exert excess energy through movement. Which in turn gives them the opportunity to succeed in the classroom.
