All students deserve to see themselves represented and reflected in their daily lives and interactions with role models, leaders, literature, arts, and other mediums. In our diverse classroom, I am working to builder a more diverse collection of children's literature. An area of need that has recently expressed itself in our 5th grade class, is having more books in our classroom library that reflect gender diverse characters. I am hoping to provide access to a greater diversity of books and characters, promoting inclusivity and equality, but also de-stigmatizing and better educating all students. I want to create a welcoming classroom for all students. There are more and more great children's books available that provide this opportunity. I would love to add some of them to our classroom library. The books chosen have been heavily recommended and meet the needs of a range of reading levels and interest areas.
