All of the students who receive speech and language services will have the opportunity to utilize highly engaging apps that target their specific speech and/or language disorders. They will work under the direct guidance of a licensed speech-language pathologist who will target the interventions to their specific needs. Students are very motivated by access to iPads. This request will allow more than one student in a group to engage with the iPads during therapy sessions. They will be able to compare their progress with each other as they push themselves to overcome their communication challenges. Additionally, some students are beginning to explore the use of augmentative communication devices and this will give them a practice device before a dedicated device is requested for them. The school district was able to fund one iPad with protective case for the class, but an additional device is needed in order to fully access the online assessment system being used to evaluate students' communication disorders. The iPad will make full access to the assessment software possible. A protective device cover will help the iPad remain in good condition for many years of continued use.
