The Be~YOU~tiful girls will utilize the yoga mats for the fitness portion of the student-based mentoring program. Students will retreat to their yoga mat for meditation and mindfulness practices. The social emotional learning (SEL) practices are needed in the school environment. SEL provides a foundation for enhancing self-development practices. This weekly portion of the program will be completed in 20-minute intervals at beginning of the session to set their intentions for the day. Then again meditation will also be done end of every afterschool session to depress from the day. I am lucky enough to be able to start the conversation about the implementation of explicit SEL practices school wide.
