My projected goal is to supply each general and special education classroom within our school with tools that students can utilize to learn how to self-regulate their own emotions. Research has proven the positive impact sensory tools have on children who need to self-regulate and get back to a learning within a school setting. For instance, with weighted blankets, students who struggle with autism, ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, and mood disorders can find relief during a time they need to calm down. Soft, squishy stuffed animals are easy to hug or talk to when a student needs comforting. A variety of fidgets and soothing visuals helps students gain focus, self-sooth, and impact the brains ability to make good choices.
