Throughout my years as a student, it was always said to me "You have to start by learning to read, so that later you can read to learn." I would like to provide my students with not only the ability to read, but a desire to read. By getting this class set of books, I can provide a class book study where my students are engaged in reading and apart of the story. With the Wayside books, we will be replacing the names of characters in the book with the names of my students and making the story our own. By making books relevant to their lives, my students will be more engaged and excited about reading. My students will be learning the skill of making connections to what we read and learn how to collaborate with others as we read through and discuss the books as a class. With these class books, I can create an environment where my students do not HAVE to read, but GET to read and can enjoy the experience of a class book study. By donating to this project and helping me get this class set of Wayside books, you will not only provide my students with the materials to read but a chance to grow in their education and collaborating skills.
