Safe equipment is very important when coaching a sport. My team is in need of new equipment. My team understands the importance of being grateful for things that we do have and we do our best to make what we do have work. Although our cheerleading uniforms are six years old, that is not the issue. We are in desperate need of mats. The mats we have are more than 7 years old. They are outdated, worn out, unsafe, and a few of them have holes in them. I am afraid that someone will get their foot caught in one of the holes and seriously injure themselves; therefore, we do not use our mats. By donating to our project, you will be providing a fun, safe, and positive environment for our cheer team. Several of my cheerleaders are also dancers and involved in gymnastics. When they ask to do stunts or tumbles, it breaks my heart when I have to tell them no. The looks on their faces show their disappointment. We have tried hosting car washes and participating in athletic fundraisers, but we can never seem to make enough to reach our goal. Not only will four new mats benefit my cheerleaders but our P.E. department can use them as well. My cheerleaders and I thank you for this opportunity and would appreciate any assistance you could provide.
