The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students are designed to purposefully teach to a variety of learning styles. For example, the storytelling puppets will enhance my ELA lessons and curriculum by providing extra visual support. My students with visual impairments will also benefit from the Tap & Play Color-Changing Light Center. Students that experience success by tactile and kinesthetic learning will benefit from the Sensory Ball Set, Pop & Play Sensory Dimpl, and the Shapes and Colors Discovery Boxes. Multi-Sensory Play is a critical component of Early Childhood Special Education! Multi-Sensory play builds nerve connections within the developing brain’s neural pathways, which trigger a child’s inclination for and ability in completing more complex learning tasks, supports language development, cognitive growth, motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interactions, aids in developing and enhancing memory functioning, is great for calming an anxious or frustrated child, helps children learn vitally important sensory attributes (hot, cold, sticky, dry, etc).
