Attending the Hello Literacy Convention in November will allow me to learn new strategies in the literacy area that I can directly use with my tiered reading students, my homeroom students, and my district colleagues. I hope that it will not only inspire my teaching but will also affirm and vary my teaching practice as well. As a mentor teacher in my district, it is important to me to be able to offer different points of view, teaching tips, and practical ideas when I am asked for help or assistance. Students are not the only ones who can get frustrated throughout the year! The strategies I learn at this convention will be a resource for other teachers in my district, both colleagues and mentee teachers. Because this workshop is designed for K-8 teachers, I hope to be able to share many of the ideas across grade levels where appropriate. Lastly, attending a two-day workshop such as Hello Literacy will allow me to socialize with other colleagues from across the nation, share tips and techniques, and perhaps make some professional connections. Sharing lessons and participating in lessons together through the use of technology would be icing on the cake!
