Flexible seating, calming tools, and easy to read books will all be used to help the students who come to the counseling office when their emotions get too big to manage on their own. Our elementary students often have a difficult time navigating their big world. They deal with family issues, problems with peers, academic pressure, and ever-changing hormones. Sometimes, it becomes too much to bear alone and they come to the counseling office for help. The flexible seating will help the students who are just a bit too wiggly. Calming tools will help to slow down breathing and get them regulated to make better decisions. Books and SEL lessons will help them to process their emotions and understand why they feel the way they do. The use of these tools will work together to get the students back focused and ready to learn.
