Reading is a great way to spark independence and a love for learning. In order to help fuel that love for learning, students need a variety of texts that will help them develop that curiosity and ownership of their learning. In expanding their resources via literature, students are able to see how much more they are able to access on their own by picking up a book and reading about a subject that they are interested in that is outside the school curriculum being covered. Creating a safe space for independent learning filled with a variety of texts is one of the first steps in order to kick-start their lifelong love for literacy.
