In our Kindergarten class, our students learn best when they are actively engaged. In order to keep all 26 of our students learning, we use reading and math centers. This means each table is working on something different, while teachers pull small groups to work with. It is such an important time where students get targeted practice with their teacher! However, these 5-6 year old kids still need to have fun and engaging learning during these times! This is why we use tablets and different hands-on activities. On our tablets, we have a variety of apps that require students to wear headphones. Some apps read them books, while others allow them to practice their math facts, all while looking like a game! They love it, but they cannot play them unless they wear headphones. For our hands-on activities, we let students use Playdoh to mold their sight words. It is an activity that challenges them to see every letter, and therefore learn the spelling of each word, all while having fun. Please help us provide these students with meaningful, interactive learning this school year!
