Read-alouds start each and every day in our 1st Grade classroom. They take us to imaginary places, historical sites, different cultures, and habitats we'll never see. They lead our literature discussions and teach us so many things about us as readers, facts about our world around us, and feelings we deal with on a daily basis. My students enter the classroom every day eager to hear and see the read-aloud for the day. With these read-alouds, my students will be exposed to beautiful stories and the lessons they teach us. They will take these lessons and apply them to their read to self books and their lives in and outside of school. My favorite thing to do as a teacher is read to my students. They look forward to this every day and with these read-aloud books new knowledge and a love for books is created.
