These books will help my students feel represented and valued in my classroom. For our final project of the year, my students will be challenged to select a book of their choice and make a case for it being added to my American Literature class curriculum. I want to be able to provide my students with plenty of books to choose from. All students deserve to see themselves reflected back in their stories they read, whether White, Black, or Brown; straight, gay, or bisexual; male, female, or non-binary; citizen or immigrant. I have all of these students in my classes and I want them to be able to advocate for the inclusion of books that showcase and celebrate their stories. Help me help them!
