A classroom library will help us fill the huge gap we see in reading levels at this time in the 3rd grade. Our students don't have access to books at home, and I would like to give them a plethora of books to choose from at school. As of now in the two classrooms, these students visit, they only see the worn and beat up books that we've desperately gathered from Goodwill and donations. None of our books are new, and no books are provided by the school. My students need new stories, colorful pictures, and exciting titles to feast their eyes on! My reading partner and I plan to incorporate a 30-minute silent reading block during our homeroom and breakfast time. Our hope is to boost our students' confidence in reading as well as getting them to be excited about it!
