The chess team requires students to think strategically. Students are developing the analytical skills necessary for decision-making, which can be applied to their lives outside of the classroom. This project requires team members to maintain good school attendance and grades to remain on the chess team. Chess team members have practiced several times per week Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and sometimes Fridays. Supplies such as clocks and chess boards will provide an opportunity for the student to prepare as well as compete in chess tournaments. As our club membership increases; we will need to keep up with the demand for supplies necessary to prepare students for local, statewide as well as a national competition.
