The addition of an iPad to our classroom will open up a new level of opportunities for my students. There are multiple projects that we do in class that could be enhanced with different applications on an iPad. One in particular is our 3D Figures unit and "Shapes Create". Using the iPad, students will be able to create AR versions of 3D figures and use them to practice finding surface area, volume, and other attributes of 3D figures. Another application would be one called CoSpaces that uses a Merge Cube to represent different building creations that the students have made during our Engineering Project at the end of the year. All of these things will be possible to share with the inclusion of an Apple TV. On top of the new opportunities for creation using various applications, the iPad will help to mix up the way students are taught. Rather than the typical fill-in-the-blank note system that is often used, I will be able to lead lessons using Nearpod and engage students in activities using IXL and Kahoot much more efficiently. Use of timers and music in the classroom will all be controlled from the iPad rather than the desk. This will help ensure that all students are engaged.
