My students will not have an opportunity to discover a love for dance outside of our public-school. Their eyes widen at the sight of tap shoes in videos on YouTube. This is their first year being offered dance as an elective art in our school and they want to learn tap dance! I want to begin a tap unit with my third and fourth grade students so we can put on a performance at the end of the year. My fondest memories of my childhood took place inside my dance studio with my tap shoes on. These children cannot access a private dance studio, so I want to create these powerful and irreplaceable memories in our dance class in school!
