I recently transitioned from teaching Elementary to High School as a first time, English teacher! I inherited books the students cannot relate to or are outdated and do not capture the readers' interest. Your donation will ignite interest in reading and learning among high school students. Being in a very diverse school, it would be great for the students to be able to make connections with the characters and themes. We are currently conducting testing and the students had a choice when done with the assessment, to grab a book or to rest; the majority chose to rest. We emphasize how a good reader leads to a good writer and having recent YA titles will encourage the students to read and write!
