Even if you are not a teacher, it is possible for you to remember when you were in class and all had to stop because someone did not have what they needed to do their work. Maybe you were asked for paper, or a pen, or... your calculator. Well, that happens to me as a teacher every day. Most students under free-reduced lunch federal status do not own a calculator. They simply don't because a TI-84 is too expensive for an economically challenged family. And the school cannot demand one. Needless to say that such a calculator is indispensable in the AP Statistics class, so it is a problem. With the TI-84, my students will learn to perform regression analysis, normal probabilities, binomial probabilities, random variables among other problems. These skills are essential to succeed while taking an AP Statistics test. Thank you for enabling my students to practice and learn their math on a TI-84.
