The materials I have asked for will help provide students with an inquiry-based lab that uncovers the world of microorganisms! 7th grade is an introduction to life science in my school district. Students will be challenged to connect the material to the real-world and design an experiment using the scientific method! In the end I will challenge them to relate what they have learned to the pandemic. This lab is applicable to the world around them and gives students choice in the experimental design! It will aim to empower learners to continue to dive deeper and not only question the world around them but develop experiments to seek answers to their questions! Example potential student questions might include: "How effective are different types of household cleaners?" "Are there natural or holistic substances that can be used to fight off bacteria?" "What surfaces in the school contain the most bacteria?"
