I want my students to take more responsibility in their learning while making choices that will help them be most successful. When my student's come to my resource room they do not always want to sit around the kidney-shaped table. They want to sit on pillows, lay on the floor or even stand with a clipboard to write on. My students are more motivated to work and focus when they have different options for where they sit when they learn. When my students are offered more choice for seating they are more engaged, more focused, and less disruptive to others; compared to when they are all sitting around the kidney table. I have chosen standing desks to give my students additional options for seating for learning. This will be very beneficial for my students that have a hard time sitting and are constantly getting out of their seats.
