In the spring, for our science standards, our 2nd grade class will be learning about the chick life cycle. We will incubate the fertilized eggs for 24 days, and during that time, our class will learn about what is happening inside the egg each day. I also connect it to our reading standards. We read books and do projects based on the information we gather from chicks, chickens, and the life cycle of them. This is an experience of a lifetime for students to get to watch baby chicks hatch from their eggs in the spring. Last year, the incubator in our class broke and we were unsuccessful with hatching chicks. My students were very discouraged, I want this year to be a different experience for my students.
