Traditional art mediums such as drawing, clay, and printing are just as relevant in today's culture as digital media and our high school school is in need of some resources to help students experience and learn hands-on processes involved with them. Our printmaking class needs a printing press in order to do any type of printing processes that involve etching (whether it is on metal or plexiglass). Students also can use the printing press for linoleum block prints and printing in multiple layers for different colors. Our Foundations of art classes and clay classes need a pug mill in order to recycle old clay and not waste any of our resources. The pug mill will work moisture into old hard clay and press it through an auger that helps get any air out of the clay so clay pieces will not fall apart in the kiln. These two important machines will last for decades to come and will help over 100 students each year to experience traditional hands-on art mediums.
