My classroom has a cold, tile floor. My students need a soft place to sit during story time. We usually stay at our desks to listen to stories read aloud. This can be a challenge because students can't see the pictures, and they struggle to focus. A rug will offer students a cozy place to sit near the teacher and listen to books each day. The rug we have chosen has colorful buttons that students can choose to sit on each day. The close proximity to the teacher will help with student focus and engagement. Reading aloud to my students daily fosters a love for reading! It also allows students to go on imaginary adventures and explore new places. When we gather together on a rug, we will feel like a family enjoying our story time!
