Students in my classroom participate in reading daily. One of the most powerful pieces of the reading instruction is growing lifelong readers who can read for a variety of purposes. It is vital that students find enjoyment in this reading as well. When students are engaged in meaningful reading practices, they will cultivate a love for reading. It is often difficult to find non-fiction biographies and poetry that are engaging and interesting for students. This is why I'm requesting these books, to inspire these readers who just don't know they love reading yet. I am also requesting multiple copies of the amazing book "Love That Dog". We will use this book as are core test when we study the art of poetry. I want to be able to pit this high-interest poetry in their hands to get them excited about this genre.
