The use of this pretend grocery store will enrich the classroom play experience for my students now and for years to come. Being a late hire this year, I feel my students don't have as many opportunities for quality dramatic play as other more-established classrooms. Dramatic play is so much more than play, it works on social and emotional skills. It works on cooperative skills. Dramatic play is the perfect opportunity to implement writing, reading and mathematics. When set up with a purpose, the learning is endless and the children experience joy while doing it. This grocery store could be a perfect platform for many other dramatic play themes! Imagine... it could become a restaurant or a doctor's office. Also, this project isn't only for this school year. This will enrich the lives of my future students for years come! Thank you for your consideration.
