Each morning when students arrive we have 10-20 minutes of flexible academic time. Oftentimes students are given a worksheet to complete. It is my goal to provide students engaging cooperative learning experiences through morning tubs. Each tub will contain a different activity that will reinforce crucial skills. For example: basic math facts, high frequency words, spatial reasoning, spelling/word play, creation/design, creative writing, fine motor skills and game based fun. In addition to the academic skills these tubs will also facilitate collaborative group work. In today's world, social skills are of equal importance to the academic skills we emphasize. These tubs require partner and group work, which will build a strong classroom culture while also teaching my students crucial teamwork skills.
